Cacti

So, how to explain the cactus thing.

Well, I can’t really.  I’ve been growing them since I was a little girl.

It’s not just cacti either, there are succulents too.  Just to clarify this right from the start, here’s the first geeky bit of information for you,  (for those of you who don’t already know), succulents are a type of plant which store water in their stems, roots and leaves.  Cacti are a specific type of succulent.  So, all cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.  I will explain more later.

Most people overlook the humble cactus and succulent, but if you take a closer look, you will find that they are spectacularly complex, with hundreds of different species and the most exotic and exquisite flowers.  The have some fantastic shapes and unusual habits and are so undemanding that they become a delight to live with.

I have loads and loads of pictures of my cacti and succulents so I thought I would share them and a little bit of knowledge with you.

There is a whole gallery of photos below and I will gradually add more posts and more information in case you’re interested.
