Hello, I’m Lou.  Otherwise known at the Wool Monkey.

I live in Sheffield, in the UK and yes, I am a little bit addicted to anything and everything involving yarn and wool.  (and cacti)

I’ve always been a bit crafty and I started to knit and crochet at a very early age, thanks to my Gran and my Mother. It’s something I’ve always done, so by now I’ve had quite a bit of practice.  To be honest, since I had children of my own it’s become a little bit of an obsession.  I freely admit that I can’t stop and that my knitting bag goes everywhere with me.  No, really, everywhere!  I don;t just knit and crochet either, I like to experiment too. I love creating patterns that other people can use and encouraging others to learn.  There are so many ideas floating around in my head, but I just don;t seem to have the time to get them all out!  One day…

When I’m not being crafty I do have the rest of my life too.  I now have two fabulous daughters, both of whom can knit and sew.  As you can imagine, they take up a LOT of my time.  I love to think that they might grow up being creative too.

I do have many other interests, probably a few too many to be honest. Climbing, travelling, gardening, generally just being outside…  but my other big interest is cacti. You know, smallish, succulent plants, often with spikes.  If you’ve never looked closely at them then go take a peak at the cactus section, you’ll be amazed at how beautiful they can be, I promise.

But enough about me.  You will meet the people and places that inspire me on my blog if you choose to dive in, so let’s get back to the good stuff. Life should be full of adventures, of whatever type takes your fancy, so pull up a chair and let’s go explore…
